Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the school guidance counselor promotes student success, provides preventive services, and responds to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.
Essential Duties
Development of an overall plan for the School Counseling Program
- Develops and maintains a plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program based on industry standards and best practices as well as individual school data.
- Communicates the goals and agenda of the school program to school administrators and stakeholders.
- Maintains current and appropriate resources on learning support for faculty and student development staff.
Implementation of a School Counseling Program
Guidance Curriculum
- Provides leadership and collaborates with other educators in the school on the constant development and improvement of the guidance curriculum.
- Implements developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
- Provide information on guidance services through Enderun experience classes.
Individual Student Planning
- Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals and plans.
- Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes student data.
- Collaborates with the academe and the career development office to assist students with educational and career planning.
Preventive and Responsive Services
- Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and other educational/community/clinical resources regarding students with identified concerns and needs.
- Implements an effective referral and follow-up process.
- Accurately and appropriately uses assessment procedures for determining and structuring individual and group counseling services.
Freshman Orientation
- Involvement in the development of a strong freshman orientation and a freshman development plan for student success – in alignment with career development goals and strategies put in place by the academe.
Organizational Support
- Provides appropriate information to Enderun employees related to the comprehensive school counseling program.
- Assists teachers and the career development office in interpreting and understanding student data.
- Participates in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
- Uses available technology resources to enhance the school counseling program. Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the industry counseling profession (inc CHED guidelines).
Education and Experience
- Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling is required.
- Minimum of 5 years experience handling College level guidance and counseling for a reputable university
- Licensed Guidance Counselor
- Able to work onsite at our Mckinley Hill campus
